🐾 “Toto, the Guardian of the Portal of the Sun”

 

It was a winter sunset at the Portal del Sol. The air carried a gentle breeze, and the sky was painted in golden and violet tones. In the midst of that sacred silence, a brown dog appeared, with crystal-clear, humble eyes. He walked wounded, with slow steps, as if life had struck him but not defeated him.

I welcomed him into the garage, as one opens an altar for rest. I looked at him, and he looked at me. He asked for nothing, yet his presence spoke volumes. I brought him home, laid him on the sofa, and with warm cloths and caresses, his pain began to ease. It was as if the Portal del Sol itself embraced him.

Then, as in every tale where tenderness summons miracles, an angel appeared: a young veterinarian, who received him with total dedication. She cared for him, healed him, and held him with wise hands and an open heart.

Days passed, then weeks, then months. And today, Toto—as we call him—is a strong, joyful, lively, and intelligent dog. He runs through the garden of the Portal del Sol as if sowing light with every step. He rests at our feet when we drink mate, joins the circle as one of us, and greets every visitor with his radiant energy.

Today marks two years since he came into our lives. And every day, his presence reminds us that love transforms, tenderness heals, and that unexpected encounters can become eternal.
